How about those texture filters?

Just a random thought; I’ve seen a trend online in graphic design circles where designers will add texture filters on top of their work, and while I think it’s an interesting trend, I’m concerned that its proliferation may make it overexposed at some point. I’m all about experimentation, no doubt I’ll need to do that this year in order to gain clients, but still I thought it was worth some discussion.
